I have over 10 years experience in database administration, specialising in Oracle and PostgreSQL. I have done extensive performance tuning in the Oracle world, and am starting to get more involved in PostgreSQL too. I love to dig deep into how things work and get to understand them at a fundamental level. I’m amazed at what unexpected insights such digging can often reveal, which in turn helps me greatly in my day to day work.

I started this blog when I found it hard to find the information I was after – especially in PostgreSQL. There are lots of experts out there but trying to find the exact information you want isn’t always easy. Anyway, I hope you can find it useful.
